Our People

Our director, Tim Wallis, has over 30 years’ experience in the legal world. On being called to the Bar, Tim cut his teeth with a general legal practice, before moving to specialise in tax, trusts and other private client matters. He worked with Ken Tingley, an acknowledged expert in the tax field at the time, before joining the legal team of a large accountancy practice in the City. Here he gained a greater insight into off-shore issues, tax planning and work such as the complexities arising from company sales and acquisitions and restructuring. Tim then spent time both in chambers and working with solicitors, predominantly in London, where he honed his skills in wills, lasting powers of attorney and contentious probate (where a will is contested). The legal world is changing and Tim set up Hames Private Clients Limited to provide a more modern approach for clients. We offer a competitive but still bespoke service with clarity from the outset as to costs and fixed fees wherever possible. Tim embraced the move to allow clients to instruct barristers directly and is qualified to accept your instructions on that basis. He still continues to receive instructions via solicitors and is happy to work with you and your solicitor with a view to achieving the best outcome possible for you. Even if you instruct Tim direct, in some cases, it may still be necessary to utilise the services of a solicitor and he will guide you about this if required.
